Strategy for UPSC Rank improvement and to overcome failures

New Fresh Nature for Android - APK Download

After results of UPSC CSE 2019, those who have not cleared must now gear up. It must have been many marks, might be 80-20 ,but then it surely makes a difference ,isnt it.

Now when you are gearing up for new attempt, its clear that we cant fight new plan with old strategies. New plans requre new strategy.

Selected Candidates who aim for Rank Improvement , if you are planning to focus on topics, my advice is not to look for important topics. But against the search for topics, it is themes that must be searched and studied. Themes are actually those topics/subtopics of UPSC CSE syllabus that should be studied in deep, as if you are Secretary level officer of that department.

Like a topic on Agriculture must be studied with all burning issues, where-what-when-why-whose-who-how- etc.

Not only this one must know every topic has its language, and that language must be used in answers. These are keywords that must come in the answers. Effective answer writing is key to success, is the mantra to clearing UPSC CSE

Now thats a tightrope – you must be thinking on one side, we are struggling to complete the syllabus and other side I am asking for enrichment.

One must also make wise use of internet and know how to use internet for upsc preparation.

Look, who is guiding you.

So I have come up with 32 themes to be studied from horses mouth-ie the Burecrats themselves, along with the qualified academicians. We did this experiment between 2010 an 2015 and this was a hit.

Students cleared exams with minimum efforts and Maximum output strategy, under our mentorship.

It is during themes, that one get what UPSC actually want you to do- know all views and make your own view. Based on current affairs and issues of national importance, we have studied previous year question papers and marking pattern and come up with 32 themes. IN continuation of this, we have come up with a personal mentoring program with following themes.

  1. QEP BASIC (32 THEMES) is Designed such that it Comprehensively covers 32THEMES which once learnt, can be easily replicated to ALL PAPERS (GS I, II, III, IV, Essay, Optional) to enhance your score by at least 150+ Marks. It is for;
    1. Those taking their first Mains, and aim to get selected in their very first attempt and have done some foundation course before.
    1. Those who are aiming for CSE 2022 and have completed their Foundation Course.
  2. What do you get:
    a) Online Lecture sessions according to themes, such that by the end of the course you would have made self-made notes, which you can just revise before Mains and Prelims.

b) 4-5 answer writing per theme with feedbacks for improvements.

c) Quality enrichment tips and notes, theme wise on e-mail.

d) High Impact Answers: Practice using Diagrams, relevant Fact & Figures, important Keywords & Quick recall Acronyms (to remember important dimensions and way forward).

Importantly full test series with above themes will give a boost of 100-150 marks for sure. Many have cleared in first attempt also.

Personal mentoring for UPSC CSE

Featured

One day a young IT professional came to me in late evening, as i was about to wrap up my days work, May i know where i can meet Santosh Sir, he asked Polietly. He was IIM-Koziokode graduate, from Himachal Pradesh and placed with a handsome salary in CARE Ratings,Mumbai. He wanted to appear, as he said, NOT JUST TRY for IAS. “Am going to do it, can u help me? ” he asked confidently. I coulndt say no. Days went by, and he became IPS in first attempt and IAS in his second attempt. He left job only 3 days ahead of his joining for Foundation Training in Mussorie.I can say, he is a model for those who want to give UPSC while working.

Here you see 2 IAS offiecers conducting awareness seminar-

But as we all know, rarely must be a aspirant who has not read M Lakshmikant or NCERT, still then why hardly a few get good marks?

Lets start with basic talks,

What UPSC Needs?

– UPSC exams is the total story of how well you present yourself-your personality test-through answer writing and Interviews. So the crux is knowing your personality and writing answers . This should be evaluated by officers who have approached that path. Personalised feedback and inputs should be given and in such a way, incremental progress over a period of time must take place.

What students do?

-Joining a class OR self study- more focus on reading – some may be doing answer writing and may or not may not be getting them evaluated from some senior. Where do you get a personalized touch to this type of studies.

What classes do?

They will give you live videos, contents, notes and tests. Who evaluates the paper, how do they do scaling, is there any personal touch? NO, and given the commercial narrative that they follow, even the best of best faculty, class cant give that personal guidance.

How does this work?

  1.    Mentor will be giving the student a day by day study plan and thus, planning his/her study calendar.

2)Daily Questions will be given which covers both statistic & current affairs Paper G.S 1, 2, 3, 4 + Essay on private telegram channel by Sankalp IAS Forum.

3)      you will have to write answer of the question and send us on to t.me/santyrockspune for  Telegram Channel t.me/upscaim

4)  The mentor will check answers and give you feedback on weekly basis via talk on phones or video calls, and you must be in touch on telegram and gmail.

5)   Answer format (Synopsis) of Mock Test paper on telegram channel

6)  Apart from that, he/she will call the student twice in a week to evaluate the progress made and to resolve the doubts of the student.

Will Guruji  provide any physical study material?

Generally, mentor will not provide any physical study material. But we may give an exception to this and provide some consolidated material if other sources are too scattered or not complete or not upto the mark. We believe every student should prepare his own notes. These notes are evaluated and checked by our mentors. Apart from that we do provide online tests for the students for regular evaluation.

In which medium can I write answers?

Answers may be written in Hindi/English/Marathi languages.

How will we be in touch?

–      Answer synopsis on gmail or telegram. Also, twice talk on phones or video calls, and be in touch on whatsapp, telegram and gmail. Hangouts is the most preferred option than whatsapp, telegram, and you may add me on google hangouts onshreesankalpfoundation@gmail.com

Why is the FOCUS ON DAILY ANSWER WRITING?

Answer writing skill development, Structure & presentation of answer, How to present facts, information & knowledge in the answer, Understanding actual requirement (key words, Context & Content) of the UPSC in the different types of questions and how the questions should be attempted for good score (strategy & approach), Understanding your current preparedness & required action plans and framing your mind towards actual pattern, toughness and timing of the actual UPSC Examination.

Why should you prepare for Government jobs?

Featured

I remember, it was in final year of engineering, when we head for first time about UPSC MPSC Exams. Social media was not at all available at that time as mobile phones were a luxury with incoming call rate 4/ and outgoing call rate rs.7.

I shred that idea, with a conviction that, I jad spent a lot of money on my education. Was it not worth? IAS? With this I proceeded for my job in Pune.

The job was “job”,with a vehicle to pick and drop, which was also a luxury at that time. 6-7 months passed by when my team member, a lady, was impregnated and our management asked her to resign. She was a brilliant lady, with growing performance chart. In spite of our teams request that we would handle this, all efforts went in pain. The idea of Private job is a King soon shattered in our minds.

I soon found myself thinking seriously for Government jobs, and got a good post in next 2 years. In the meanwhile many of my erstwhile friends, who were resisting my idea, were sending lot of money back home. This lure could not distract me.

Today, both my friends are happily agreeing with my idea of a government job because of changed circumstances:

1) The US presidents tirade against Indian IT professionals.

2) The sudden death of more than 10 top performing private companies in India and abroad-

Retailers closed globally in 2017, 2018 & 2019 are given below

Some well known companies in India are NOKIA, Remington, Denim, Kingfisher, Kodak, Air deccan, Air asia, Reliance Communications and latest is Jet Airways.

No doubt talent has no death in market, but then whcich thought do you think must be convincing Kanish Katariya, who had spend lakhs of rupeed on his education, is this year’s IAS topper who did leave a monthly 10 lakh package in Korea and joined IAS? read his answers here:

Dear friends, many have misconceptions, and keeping negative people around us, may make us bad decision, but after 10 years of wonderful service in government, I am convinced, that even 2 years spent in prepataion is worth than any private job. Even if not IAS, any class-1 job in government job will make you and your family proud.

Read my Marathi blog here- https://www.sankalpiasforum.com/learn-from-guru

But instead they say, minimum passing percentage of the recognized University. That’s it.

So friends, be assured preparation can give a class-1 post and one of the best career in government sector. I say so, because preparation in right direction and under right guidance with right spirit for minimum 2 years for one exams- UPSC CSE can fetch you success in more than 17 subordinate posts exams. So be ready, save yourself from getting trapped in subconscious mind.

Selecting the right guide for UPSC coaching

Featured

पुणे आणि मुंबईतील क्लासच्या एका जाहिरातीने मी हबकलो  When I started looking for guidance , I was fascinated by some words of a coaching class in Pune & South Mumbai…..they said;

-We focus on only IAS coaching, unlike others who have diversified courses;

-We have faculty coming from Delhi, You must admire this…

-We have Toppers interaction, do attend to know more

Today ,I am a officer with the state government and have already given 3 UPSC CSE Interviews and I am mentoring a few students who are victims of above claims. I want to tell you the hollow facts of the above 3 claims:

  1. that We focus on only IAS coaching, unlike others who have diversified courses; – Soon i ‘discovered that this institute was involved in many courses, right from kids hobby courses.
  2. that We have faculty coming from Delhi, You must admire this… Ya this faculty came every Saturday,Sunday, and taught in class-bla-bla and flew back the next day. When I actually started studying , writing answers, I found no one by my side. I soon discovered the hollowness of this claim.
  3. that We have Toppers interaction, do attend to know more….. i found, that these toppers were paid enough to come and address and throw a perception that they were products of this institute. ‘Image of toppers interaction, never said, that the topper was their product” uff-how dumb I was then, not to fall in this perception trap.

The fact soon drew me into more in-depth study of what should students look for, while searching for right guidance.

After UPSC Civil Services 2018 final result have been declared, aspirants are left with a presumption on whether UPSC will continue emphasizing on current affairs or it may change the streak and ask questions about static questions based on current events, –So now whatever may be the inclination, only one skill survive and can save the stinking boat i.e., efficient and consolidated writing skills.  Towards Effective Answers What should be the ideal answer for any question? – This is a baffling question itself. It is totally depends upon the candidates background and varied ideas and perspectives, but it is totally on an aspirant’s judgment to decide what is apt to be mentioned or not. — It is based on this and only this point, should students decide about coaching class, mentor and self . When I decided that I was going to prepare for UPSC Civil Services Exam, the next major decision was whether to join a coaching class or not. Back then, online content had just begun to come up. Hence, whether to join a coaching or to study online was not even a question. But online content has matured a lot in last 4 years. So a major question among aspirants starting their preparation now is whether they should join a classroom, or whether they can prepare effectively for civil services relying solely on online content.

So a major question among aspirants starting their preparation now is whether they should join a classroom, or whether they can prepare effectively for civil services relying solely on online content.

Lets start with basic talks,

Only a accomplished personal mentor can build a career

Coaching V/S Mentorship
When I was preparing for Civil Services Exam, I always felt if there was some mentor who could help me strategize and provide me study feedback, rest I can handle myself, without any coaching. This is even more true today. The truth is that UPSC is 99% about self study and only 1% about guidance. That 1% guidance has to be extremely minimal, –to the point and -be effective.

Hence, my hypothesis, that in today’s digital world, classroom coaching for UPSC Civil Services is redundant and a huge waste of time and money. But the flip-side of online content is that so much content becomes available, it becomes almost impossible for a fresh aspirant to filter out the relevant content. Thus, mentorship is the need of the day. Someone who could help you decide what to study and what not to study. Someone experienced to help you strategise and motivate. Someone who is capable of resolving your conceptual doubts. Someone who keeps monitoring your progress and provides you the feedback on what and how to improve, while you could invest your full energy in studying what is prescribed

Preparing For UPSC From Home Or In Classroom

Based on these beliefs, I have started a Classroom (in Mumbai Dadar & in Pune) as well as online mentorship program , called ‘Sankalp UPSC 2020’.
In this program, Officers and academicians with proven credentials will mentor a small batch of students. We will help each student create a clear strategy and timeline for next one year. This strategy will be personalised for each student. Based on it, we will help set up monthly and weekly targets for the aspirant. We will teach in classrooms and help select and prioritize reading material. I will help resolve conceptual doubts. All this assistance will be in classrooms and also online, so it also becomes possible for aspirants sitting anywhere in the country to prepare in the best possible manner without having to physically shift to Delhi/Pune. Most importantly, we will provide assistance on demand only where it is required, thus minimizing the interference and allowing the aspirant to give maximum time to self study, which is what the UPSC Civil Services Exam is all about.

For more details about the program, write to me at shreesankalpfoundation@gmail.com or whatsapp me at +919930075295. Call 9930075267 if am unreachable.

♦How to prepare for Sankalp IAS Forum Entrance / what are all the books to study to pass in Sankalp IAS Forum Entrance Exam?
No special preparation for filtering test, but for final top 45 selection, you need to prove best in NCERT based tests. You may join 2 months NCERT course that is conducted regularly in Sankalp IAS Forum. This year’s course starts from 27th April, 2019.

I suggest NCERT books rather than Tata McGraw Hill for GS but covering all ncert books in short time period is difficult so prefer TMH if you want to prepare in a hurry.

Don’t prepare for Sankalp IAS Forum Entrance Exam just Prepare for Civil Service Exam if then you can crack it for sure.

Building strong foundation: NCERT based written and MCQ based test series

Everyone know of importance of NCERT, but rarely students know of how to express in answers or interlink with current affairs and face Prelims and Mains. This is first in India, keeping in mind changing dynamics of UPSC prelims.

Officers who have gone successfully through all this process knows the dilemma students face- completing syllabus at one end and interlinking with current affairs at other end.

We having understood this, are bringing this program for a small group of aspirants. Small, so that each one can be given personal attention.

Time bound study with value added sessions of current Affairs with pole vault students into a very comfortable zone.

Social media is filled with faulty strategy for UPSC CSE Exam preparation, Like saying read NCERT first…watch why. How dangerous is coaching class strategy and how one should actually prepare, how to use handholding by officer, how to use test series, what NOT to read

See the schedule below, do think and wish you many wished for upcoming efforts.
